Last Friday we went to dog beach. It is quite a long walk through sand to get to the water. I had been told that it is good therapy to walk in sand. It gives the ankle a real workout. Apparantly my ankle didnt get the memo. It has been hurting since that day. I am walking slower and with a slight limp. Today I gave in to reason and skipped the cardio part of my workout. There is a very long stairway from the ground floor of the gym to the weight area. I used the elevator instead of walking. I was able to get quite a good workout in spite of the ankle. Then I went swimming. I first sat on the edge of the jacuzzi, and let the water work on my ankle. Then I went in the swimming pool and was able to swim without trouble. When I finished my swim I went back and soaked my foot in the jacuzzi again. Then one more dip in the pool. So I had given myself some heat and cold therapy. The ankle felt better after that.
So, again with the balancing act. Balance needs of my ankle with need to continue exercise and weight loss. I see each event as a challenge. Im up for it!
